Seven Days with Windows 7: Boot-Up and First Impressions

Unprecedented marketing binge launched by Microsoft has put Windows 7 on everybody’s lips. The newest avatar of the storied operating system has generated insatiable curiosity and queries regarding features, pricing, enhancements and security. Such a euphoria demands an in-depth flash back, unraveling the making and culmination of the phenomenon called Windows 7.

The myriad features may be reasons to own a system installed with window7. Some of the features of Windows 7 are:

Full Screen Previews

It is the first feature that shows the full-screen previews. Like Vista, hovering over a taskbar item shows a screenshot of the program. However, in Windows 7, hovering over the screenshot brings up that window and makes the others transparent. This is especially handy if you use Internet Explorer, as hovering over the IE icon shows thumbnails for all open tabs and right now there is no support for this feature in other Internet browsers. Windows Media Player 12 also has a thumbnail preview that has play controls so you no longer have to restore the window to pause music.

Window Management

Open windows are much more facility managed now. Two new features are Windows Aero Snap and Aero Shake and these two new features have been talked about on Mintywhite before. In Windows 7, when a window is dragged to the top of the desktop it is automatically resized to full-screen and when it is dragged away, it shrinks to its original size. The second Snap feature causing a window to take up that half of the screen and this occurs when you drag a window all the way to the right or left. This is mainly handy with two instances of Windows Explorer open, when there are a number of click-and-drag actions. Also, Windows Shake is fun to play with. When multiple windows are open, the other windows will minimize as you grab one by the title bar, shake it slightly. If you will do it once more and all the windows will be restored.

Enhance Notification Area

The next thing noticed is the right side of the taskbar. It looks much more connected (but the icons should be colored), mainly due to the fact that tray icons are now organized in a drop-down menu. It is much simpler to connect to networks now, as the network icon, when clicked on does not shows all networks in a separate window but displays a menu of all available networks right on the desktop. You can also enter a password there. There is also a small space at the very end that makes all windows clear when the cursor moved over it, making the desktop visible which is also known as Windows Peek. It is more handy if you use Windows Gadgets or the new Sticky Notes program.

The Task Bar and Start Menu

Now, it is lot easier to work on multiple windows at the same time. Windows 7 enables user to pin any of their favorite program to the taskbar. When user hovers over the icon in the taskbar, he will be able to see thumbnails of windows open under that application and when the user hovers over that thumbnail, he will be able to see full-screen preview of that window. The users also have the option to click and drag any icon on to the taskbar.

Windows 7 Slow? - Powerful Steps to Speed it Up in Simple and Fast Ways

Windows 7 is the latest operating system from Microsoft and claims that it has the greatest interface. But do you know if windows 7 is running slowly? On this article, you can find out the tips how to speed up windows seven.

There are 3 ways to optimize it. The first one is your hardware must meet the minimum requirement. And here they are:

    * 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    * 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
    * 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
    * DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If you're now using windows Vista, you should have these specifications above. Microsoft knows that there must not be any drastic change. You keep the minimum requirements and this new operating system should operate well.

But if you're using windows 2000 and trying to jump to windows 7, you'll get trouble. If you have fulfilled the requirements and windows 7 is still running slow, then we should use the second way in order to optimize it. The second way is checking the running program in the background. You can just open msconfig and make free some memory by identifying the secret program that you actually don't need. Those unneeded programs will eat your virtual memory.

On the third way to optimize the windows 7 is by cleaning the registry. This might be the magic way to speed up this latest operating system from Microsoft.

Microsoft doesn't provide internal cleaning tool to fix the errors and corrupt files from the registry. This process must be done with good registry cleaner software which can speed up windows 7 performance.

These tweaks are really complicated for non expert people. If you're just deleting the wrong registry, you can crash Windows 7 suddenly. You can fix these issues automatically just in few minutes by using registry cleaner software. The newest registry cleaners are compatible not only in Vista but also in Windows 7.

Tired of slowing PC performance? Do you want to repair slow windows 7 in cheap and fast way? You can scan the registry error in your computer for free and fix them with the best registry cleaner on the market. After scanning and fixing your PC, you will be surprise how fast your computer is.

All these configurations are stored inside of the "registry" database, which means that whenever you use your PC, numerous configurations from the registry are being opened at once. This leads Windows to obtain confused and makes it save several of these configurations in the wrong way, creating them corrupted and tough to examine. This then causes Windows to take longer to procedure the settings the next time it requirements them, slowing your computer down as a result.

The best way to make Windows 7 quicker, is to give it a facelift by fixing every one of the ruined settings that are inside the registry database. What you'll find with numerous computers is always that as Windows is employed more and more, it saves an increasing number of registry settings incorrectly, making them tough to examine.

To use 1 of these tools, you must download one from the Web, install it and then let it fix the errors it finds. The greatest cleaners will locate big numbers of errors and will boost the speed of one's PC dramatically.

Make Your System to Run Legacy Apps in a Virtualized Windows XP Environment in Windows 7

Do you feel annoying some apps are not run well in Windows 7 but you just really need to run them? Well...maybe Windows XP Mode can solve your promble which provides a licensed copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 3, saved in Virtual Machine Hard Drive Image (.vhd) format. What's more...this virtualized installation of Windows XP lets you run applications that might not run well in Windows 7 when run in Windows Virtual PC, or another compatible program. Give it a try in Windows XP Mode if it worked great in Windows XP but doesn't work in Windows 7. NOTE: Windows Virtual PC requires a computer with hardware-assisted virtualization. So the CPU has to support either Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) or AMD Virtualization (AMD-V). Also hardware virtualization must be enabled in the BIOS. Both Intel and AMD offer an array of processor options, some that support hardware virtualization and some that do not. If you're buying a system expressly for the purpose of running Windows XP Mode, make sure it meets these requirements. How to Download and Install Windows XP Mode? In order to set up Windows XP Mode, you need to have two free downloads...first is a small download that enables the Windows Virtual PC host program, followed by a separate download that installs, configures, and activates the licensed copy of Windows XP SP3. Just to follow the steps below: 1) Go to the Windows Virtual PC site and click Download Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC. 2) Select your Windows 7 system type (32-bit or 64-bit) and language. 3) Follow the Web site's instructions to download and install Windows Virtual PC, and then Windows XP Mode. 4) Restart your system. 5) Launch Windows XP Mode by opening the Start Menu, choosing All Programs, clicking Windows Virtual PC, and then clicking Windows XP Mode. 6. Accept the license agreement and enter a password for the default administrative account. Note: Here if you select Remember Credentials (Recommended) in this dialog box, whenever you launch Windows XP Mode from your Windows 7 desktop or Start menu, you'll be logged on automatically with the saved credentials. 7) Allow the setup process to complete, then customize and secure your new Windows XP installation to suit your needs and preferences. If you create additional user accounts, keep in mind that the system will let you create accounts without passwords but won't let you log on to those accounts. Actually Windows Virtual PC shares your computer's optical drives with Windows 7 by default. But while the virtual environment is running, AutoRun is disabled. In order to install an application from a CD or DVD in Windows XP Mode, you must run the virtual environment, insert the disc, open My Computer in Windows XP, and run the application's setup program. After you have installed a program in this manner, you can run it "seamlessly" by launching it from the Windows 7 Start menu. It will have a Start-menu shortcut in the Windows XP Mode Applications folder. Applications installed in Windows XP Mode and launched from the Windows 7 Start menu run on the Windows 7 desktop, without visible elements of Windows XP Mode (The applications take longer to launch, because the virtual environment must be initialized.). conclusion It is an optional download for the Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions of Windows 7. Of course...Windows XP Mode is also handy if you have an older device with a proprietary driver that hasn't been updated for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Windows 7 Pre Order Review - Windows 7 is Already More Stable Than Vista

Windows seven Review - It's Time To Get Familiar - Will You skip Vista SP2?

I've got 2 PCs running Windows seven. They are absolutely different computers in that one is sort of five years old and one is totally cutting edge with all the most recent graphics cards, for example.

The new Windows seven Aero theme is pretty and a bit better organized and intuitive than Windows Vista Aero. An example mouse gesture that I use is to wiggle the mouse back and forwards like you are scratching something off a list. This straight away clears the desktop by hiding all the open windows. The new interface also enables you to click the thumbnails of the programs that are running.

I am still concerned about compatibility issues, but even the few games I've run have been no problem for Windows seven. Even the most recent Fallout 3 ran flawlessly. Given that a Windows seven will be swiftly downloadable in the future and given the obvious quality of the apparent quality of the release exceeds that of Vista to ask who will trouble to Vista SP2?

In addition to Vista SP2?

In addition to frame rate increases in games, the web connection scores just about 10% higher throughput. On our 1GB connections, the difference is even more obvious. Even if you do not have machine to test drive Microsoft Microsoft Windows seven on, you can use Vmware's free desktop virtualization software to line up and start exploring.

It's coming fairly soon. To line up Windows seven on Vmware, just tell vmware that you will be using Vista. This works well because one of the explicit goals of Windows seven is driver and hardware compatibility with Vista.

Installation is a breeze. It essentially looks just like the Windows Vista installer with upgraded graphics. Like all new Windows releases, Microsoft has attempted to appeal to users on the present platform.

Conclusion:I think it's wise to begin to support this operating system now, especially if you've been holding off company users waiting for a better version of Vista. By the point Windows Vista SP2 Beta is stable and out the door, you will be on the heels of Microsoft's Windows 7 release date. At the least you must install a virtual machine on Vmware for familiarization.

Developers should have their beta copy very shortly.

Do you need to upgrade to windows 7

WINDOWS 7 - ARE YOU prepared TO UPGRADE?

Introducing some reliable windows that might succeed the Windows XP on real grounds has been a challenge for the Microsoft. Though windows Vista given a flashy interface, it could not actually impress the users because of the low-level performance and lack of any unique feature. Windows seven that is going to be launched in a couple of days has been designed in a way that it might get rid of all the aggravating features that are attributed to the older versions of the Windows.
though Microsoft has never been successful in introducing some galvanizing designs, it has worked it out in the newly launched Windows 7 operating system. It could take time for the new users of the Windows to grasp the new features, but once getting hand on it, the users are surely going to enjoy having it.
Some of the programs and the capacities that were present there in the windows vista have been removed from the windows seven operating system. Some of such features include the fast launch, the cautions about the troubleshooting problems and the security related matters.
rather than all of these, the windows 7 operating system has introduced some new features. For example, the little icons that appear on the desktop while the PC is running the categorical program have now been made bigger. You would also be supplied with the choice of shrinking the icons, and you can bring back the labels if you don't feel ok with it. An important feature of the windows 7 operating system is often known as'jump system'. That allows you to have an instant access to a couple of the programs, even if they don't seem to be running now.
Besides the new favorable features, to install the windows 7 in your PC, you want to satisfy some necessities too. For example, you must have a 64-bit processor, and besides that, it is suggested that you could have at least 1 GB of RAM, this would help in maintaining the working speed of your private PC.
in spite of of being electrifying, windows seven is not faultless either. As there are some features that haven't been tuned properly, there are others that can't be used without assistance from some 3rd application program. Still we can conclude that the windows seven would be a very important addition to the operating systems. Upgrade to Windows 7

Windows Vista Problems and Troubleshooting

There are lots of problems with windows vista and those are vary difficult to troubleshoot for a layman user. Here are the list of windows vista problems and troubleshooting guide for those vista problems.

Vista problem kernel data inpage error status no such device

During re-enumeration of a previously enumerated ide controller, a race condition exists between atapisys and pciidexsys or between Ataportsys and Pciidex.sys. In this race condition, the following conditions are true:

Atapi.sys and Ataport.sys use the stm method to select a transfer mode on a channel. The stm method is in the advanced configuration and power Interface bios. pciidex.sys verifies whether that channel exists by checking for the ide decode enable bit.

If the bios implementation of the stm method has cleared the ide decode enable bit, pciidex.sys determines that the channel does not exist. When this behavior occurs, pciidexsys does not enumerate the channel.

vista troubleshooting guide for this error

Because atapisys and ataportsys never run the stm method as long as there is i o on the channel, the stm method does not have to clear the ide decode enable bit. Therefore, BIOS manufacturers should not clear the ide decode enable bit in the stm method.
